“Dr. Jose Mullen has crafted a wonderful book that describes the practice of homeopathic medicine and what it is to be a homeopathic physician. It is a book that should be on the shelf of anyone with an interest in learning more about homeopathy.”

Todd Rowe, MD. MD (H),
Director, Desert Institute School of Classical Homeopathy,
President, National Center for Homeopathy

Homeopathy has been around for over 200 years. It is growing stronger every day.
Yet, it is astonishing how little it is known and understood.

In 1990 I conceived the idea of writing a book devoted exclusively at making Homeopathy as clear and as understandable as I possibly could.

In 1993 I published "Understanding Homeopathic Medicine". It was a private, Xerox-generated, double-spaced, 93 page-long book. It dealt almost exclusively with Homeopathy. I occasionally used some Allopathic ideas and concepts, but only to make Homeopathy clearer by contrast.

I distributed the book among friends and patients. It was very well received. It generated a lot of very valuable comments and suggestions that moved me to write down a second edition and then a third, that I again distributed among my friends and patients. Each new edition brought back a wealth of extremely useful, important and interesting suggestions and comments.

And so the book kept on growing and becoming more comprehensive with each successive edition.

I am eternally grateful at all my friends and patients for all they did to improve the clarity and quality of this book.

At some point I realized that to understand Homeopathy is not enough.
I have been trained in both Allopathic and Homeopathic Medicine. My training allows me to recognize the possibilities and limitations of both forms of diagnosis and treatment. In turn, this knowledge allows me to know what treatment to proffer to each of my patients, if Allopathy or Homeopathy, or if a combination of both.

Problem is, though; very few Health Care Providers share this breadth of knowledge. Most are knowledgeable in one of these two approaches, but are usually in the dark when it comes to the other.

Consequently, whenever someone goes to an Allopathic Physician, that patient will usually receive drugs or Surgery or whatever, whether or not there is something more useful for that patient somewhere else.

By the same token, if somebody ill goes to a natural Practitioner, that patient will likely receive only natural treatments, whether or not that patient could benefit from something different.

So, from that edition onwards, I decided to attempt to clarify not only Homeopathy, but also how Allopathy and Homeopathy can be made to integrate in the benefit of each individual patient.

From then on, I entitled the book "Understanding Homeopathy and Integrative Medicine"

Now I am proffering you this 5th Edition.

I expect it will help you understand Homeopathy, how Homeopathy relates to Allopathy, what are the possibilities and limitations of both forms of diagnosis and treatment and, perhaps more important, how you can use this knowledge to actively participate in the design of your treatments.
